There is a way to indent and create line breaks. The problem is that you need to do it in the edit HTML window. When you type directly into the "compose" window, the text behaves according to the preset edits, and many of these have code written so that empty spaces are collapsed or that everything is justified left (default), etc.

The easy way to indent and space things the way you want to in your poetry is to convert your poem into an image file and upload as such. A pain, I know.

The first method is easy to learn, and you can experiment with the HTML code by playing around with text in Google docs, which will let you compose and also view the text in an "edit HTML" mode.

I know this is quite a bit of nerdy advice, and playing around with HTML may seem counterintuitive to your lovely word-smithing... good luck.

Here is one site that gives a pretty intelligible explanation of the HTML code:

indent.htm

You can also google "HTML indents tricks"

Hey...just wondering if you are still displeased with the atmosphere, or if you went on a poetry tour around New England. Miss your musings...

Glad to see that you are still dancing through life :).
Try writting in the compose "box" then click on the HTML tab to see the text in HTML mode.
insert a less than symbol "<" followed by "PRE" then greater than symbol ">"...no spaces, at the beginning of the poem. Insert less than followed by "/PRE" followed by greater than...no spaces at the end. (It won't let me type the actual "tags". uggh.) Then click on preview. You should see everything formatted as you typed. However...the font is a courier typewriter font, and it does come out a bit "pale." But, the formatting will hold. That is the quick way to do it, I found out. I agree that it is a royal pain to format anything in the blog. Hope the knitting is going well.
